Berlin : India is to be well represented at the Berlin Air Show (ILA) that begins in late May, with some 25 firms exhibiting, according to information provided by the organizers Thursday.
More than 1,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries have booked stands at the ILA, the highest number since 1992, the Germany aeronautical and space industry association (BDLI) said.
Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony said earlier that among the companies to be represented were Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, along with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI).
The ILA offered Indian aerospace to show its achievements and products, along with the possibility of sounding out future business opportunities, Antony said.
Thomas Enders, head of Airbus and president of the BDLI, described India as “one of the world’s most dynamic economies and one of the biggest growth markets for air travel”.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicts growth of up to 10 percent in Indian air travel in the years ahead.
The ILA takes place between May 27 and June 1 at Schoenefeld, where Berlin is building a large new airport.
The organizers are predicting some 200,000 people will visit the show, down from the 250,000 recorded at the last show in 2006, when Airbus showed off its A380 superjumbo.
