Madrid : The succession of US nuclear submarines to the Spanish port of Gibraltar continued Wednesday, with the arrival of the USS Florida, a new floating bomb representing an increase of risks in the region.
The USS Florida is carrying MK-48 torpedoes and cruiser missiles Tomahawk.
Local organization Ecologistas en Accion warned it would be a potential increase of risks in the region, and spokesman Antonio Muñoz reaaserted the opposition of local authorities, and from the Spanish province of Cadiz.
The submarines dock in the port of Gibraltar for repair and maintenance work.
Last year, British nuclear submarines HMS Turbulent and HMS Sceptere and US submarines USS Augusta, USS Memphis, and USS San Juan docked in this port according to Ecologistas en Accion.
