Mbeki and Mugabe Talk on Non Violence

By Prensa Latina,

Harare : The Presidents of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, and Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, had a conversation in this capital Friday on the possibility to find a solution to the violence to the post-electoral crisis in Zimbabwe.

Mbeki and Mugabe talked for almost three hours, without giving information on all the details they talked about.

Opposition Movement for Democratic Change declined to participate in the conversation, and even suggested Mbeki leaves his role as mediator in the conflict.

The Zimbabwean Electoral Commission gave information on the fact that opposition candidate Morgan Tsvangirai got the first place but with 47.9 percentual points of the votes.

According with the constitution, the two most voted aspirants (Mugabe was second) should be presented in a second electoral round.

Morgan Tsvangirai has not decided to present himself for that decisive electoral round, and he went from Zimbabwe to South Africa shortly after the March 29 elections.
