Nepali PM for coalition gov’t

By Xinhua,

Kathmandu : Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Saturday called for the political parties to work united and to form a coalition government, local newspaper The Rising Nepal reported on Sunday.

Inaugurating Srimati Ganga Devi Chaudhari Cathlabs at Norvic International Hospital in Nepali capital Kathmandu, Prime Minister Koirala said the Constituent Assembly (CA) election results had given a message to the parties that they should work united.

He said no party had a clear mandate to form a single-party government, adding a coalition government would be more trustworthy in the present context.

He said that consensus among the political parties was a must for national prosperity. “Tolerance is important among the coalition partners as drafting a new constitution is our topmost priority.”

He added that cooperation among the people would form a basis to build a new Nepal.

On the same day when inaugurating a photo exhibition in Nepal Art Council in Kathmandu, Koirala said the political parties should forge ahead with democratic culture and collaboration as the country entered in the inclusive politics.

Koirala further said the political parties should not deviate from their responsibility, blaming others in this situation.

The first meeting of Constituent Assembly is to be held on May 28.
