Ramallah : Palestinian officials on Wednesday denied Israeli reports that the two sides reached agreements regarding two outstanding issues — the borders and the security.
According to Israeli reports, Israel accepted to lower its demands for annexing more territories of West Bank to the large settlement blocs.
In return, the Palestinians have to accept Israel’s security demands for controlling the Jordan valley area in the West Bank and demilitarizing the upcoming Palestinian statehood.
Saeb Erekat, a Palestinian negotiator, said these reports were groundless and Israel deliberately releases them to confuse the Palestinians.
The reports say that these understandings were reached during the negotiations which renewed last November after U.S. mediation efforts.
The talks tackle the final-statues issues which prevent the creation of the Palestinian statehood on West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip.
The most important issue, Jerusalem, was not discussed so far and the negotiations only focused on the borders, the security affairs and the Palestinian refugees, according to the reports.
Yasser Abed Rabbo, also a Palestinian negotiator, told Voice of Palestine radio Wednesday that the Israeli reports “were lying from the first letter until the last letter.”
“Israel, which is unserious in the talks, aims at showing that the political process makes progress,” Abed Rabbo added.
