Yangon : The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was aware, by first hand, of the plan drawn up by the Association of South Eastern Asian Nations (ASEAN) to organize Myanmar international assistance.
Previous to his visit to Myanmar capital, to meet General Tanh Shwe and other members of the military government, Ban received detailed information of the project explained by Asean chief, Thailand ex foreign minister Surin Pitsuwan.
A committee of 22 members will Coordinate aid to Myanmar, Birmania in the past, and evaluate scale of Nargis cyclone damages and distribution of resources for the victims.
The team will be represented by 10 countries members of the regional block with a governmental official and a technician as well as an assistant and Pitsuwam himself.
They will also make up a nine-people bureau, three from ASEAN and the same number from United Nations and Myanmar authorities.
The representatives of that South Asian entity will arrive soon in Yangon to deal with aid missions.
