Kabul : Two soldiers, one from the NATO-led peacekeeping force and another from the U.S.-led Coalition serving in Afghanistan have been killed in separate incidents, press releases from the international force said Sunday.
The Coalition soldier was killed while fighting militants in Afghanistan’s western Farah province while the NATO soldier succumbed to his injuries.
“A Coalition soldier was killed while conducting operations in Farah Province, Sunday,” the U.S. military said in a statement.
The identity of the serviceman will be released by his country pending notification of next of kin, said the Coalition in the statement.
In another incident, a soldier of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) who received a non-battle injury succumbed to his wound, said the ISAF in a press release.
“An ISAF soldier died of wounds sustained when a wheel of a large truck he was working on fell on him Friday in southern Afghanistan. The soldier was transported to an ISAF medical facility for treatment, but later died of his injury,” said the ISAF.
Soldiers from Britain, the United States, Canada and the Netherlands have been stationed under NATO command in southern Afghanistan to stabilize security in the restive region.
Meanwhile, a suicide car bomb targeting foreign military convoy in Taliban’s former stronghold Kandahar in southern Afghanistan Sunday wounded five people including three foreign soldiers possibly Canadians and wounded two local civilians.
The spiraling conflicts and Taliban-related violence have been claiming more lives in the post-Taliban Afghanistan.
