Chandigarh : The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) has confirmed the rape of a German tourist in its report submitted to the Chandigarh police Tuesday, an official said.
After almost a month-and-a-half after the city beautiful was rocked by the German tourist’s abduction and rape Sep 28, the CFSL submitted its report to the Chandigarh police Tuesday.
“The report of CFSL has confirmed the rape of the German tourist. The semen swab of one of the accused, Pankaj has matched with the samples taken from the victim and from the scene of the crime,” Madhur Verma, assistant superintendent of police told IANS.
“Now we will pursue the case of rape against Pankaj,” said Verma.
The police arrested Pankaj and Harpreet Singh while the other accused, including Manvir Singh, Sukhminder and Sompal surrendered before the court.
The German tourist identified all of them in an identification parade.
Interestingly, Pankaj had himself dropped the victim back to Chandigarh Sep 28 afternoon and told the police that he had helped the victim and stopped his friends from killing her.
The German woman was allegedly abducted from the upscale Taj Hotel in the early hours Sep 28. She was in the city to attend the wedding of a Germany-based NRI and returned to Germany a few days after the incident.
In her statements given to the police, the victim alleged that she did not allow the accused to rape her. She said that the accused held her captive for over 12 hours and attempted to rape her, assaulted and molested her and threatened to kill her.
