Canberra : Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said here on Saturday the exact number of Australian casualties in Mumbai still remains unclear.
Consular officials and Australian Federal Police (AFP) have accounted for 79 of the 83 Australians known to have been in the area where terrorists launched gun and bomb attacks.
The Australian government could only confirm the death of one Australian – Gilbert Taylor – but Rudd acknowledged the family of another Australian man – Doug Markell – had confirmed his death in the attacks.
“We remain concerned about the other two people, reported to be Australians,” he told reporters.
The Indian officials said on Friday four Australians were killed among more than 150 victims in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
