Two Days of Terrorism in Mumbai

By Prensa Latina,

New Delhi : Thirty eight hours after Mumbai experienced the most terrible terrorist attack in the history of India, the Hotels Oberoi Trident, Taj Mahal and Nariman House residential complex are still undergoing an appalling drama.

Elite troops of the National Security Guard, the Army, Navy and the Antiterrorist Squad are carrying out an operation in those three hotels to rescue people, who are still trapped there, and capture or kill the terrorist assailants.

Clashes against attackers are about to finish, Mumbai Superintendent Hassan Gafoor asserted.

The officer said the hostages in Taj Mahal were evacuated, although around 15 people still remain inside the Indian emblematic Hotel.

On the other hand, there are still over 100 people inside the Oberoi-Trident hotel complex, where security forces are also carrying out an antiterrorist operation and there were small blasts in the morning, the Times Now daily reported.

Police sources also reported that seven hostages in Nariman House hotel, where many Jew families live, were released.

The death toll have now reached to 125, 14 policemen, six foreigners, although some sources reported nine, and 327 wounded people, some press releases said.

The police in Maharashtra, Mumbai’s capital, said evidence showed that three of the assailants were members of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba group.
