58 killed, 50 injured in Kyrgyzstan earthquake

Moscow : Up to 58 people were killed and 50 others were injured in an earthquake that hit Kyrgyzstan on Monday.

Interfax News Agency said the quake, registered 8 degrees on the Richter Scale, hit the districts of Osh and Patkin, located in the south of the country.

Relief teams are facing difficulties due to remoteness of the affected areas, in addition to damage inflicted in the roads leading to the stricken areas.
