Panaji : The Goa unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Monday passed a resolution demanding the ouster of its own minister, Francisco alias Mickky Pacheco, from the Goa cabinet.
The ruling Congress-NCP- Maharashtravadi Gomantak Parishad (MGP) coalition was stunned after Pacheco filed a disqualification petition against his cabinet colleague, PWD Minister Churchill Alemao and legislators Reginaldo Lourenco (both of the Congress)before travelling to the US.
“What Mickky has done is highly detrimental and damaging to the image of NCP of Goa,” Wilfred de Souza told mediapersons after a meeting of the state NCP executive committee.
He said the executive committee had tried to figure out “reasons why things have happened the way they have happened, like Mickky’s disqualification petition”.
He said the state NCP had no truck with Mickky’s decision to file a disqualification petition against the two Congress leaders.
“The two other NCP MLAs have nothing to do with what Mickky has done. They are shocked at their colleague’s actions,” de Souza said.
“We have demanded that the NCP high command should forthwith remove Pacheco from ministership,” he said.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat’s surprising silence on the matter had led the NCP to take an independent call on the matter, de Souza told IANS.
He said a meeting of the coordination committee involving the representatives from the coalition partners had not been called despite constant reminders from the state NCP unit.
