According to the police, the email from an unidentified sender was Sunday night sent to two senior West Bengal police officials, “warning that four members of terrorist group Indian Mujahideen may blast a train at the Sealdah Station during the Durga Puja”.

“But it seems fake. Nevertheless. the police are taking all the necessary actions,” Inspector General (law and order) Raj Kanojia told reporters.

The area around the railway station was wrapped under a tight security cover as railway police officials along with sniffer dogs were thoroughly checking train compartments, passengers and their luggage.

A vigil was also being maintained through closed circuit cameras (CCTVs) in the station premises.

“We have not detected anything suspicious so far,” said a railway police official.

The Durga Puja festival will end Thursday.
