Istanbul : Participants in the first Turkey-Arab forum called for the development of political, economic and trade cooperation between Turkey and the Arab countries.
Foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, syria, Algeria and Djibouti took part in the forum in addition to Arab League secretary general Amr Moussa.
Syrian foreign minister Waleed Al-Muallem said consultations should continue between Turkey and the Arab countries over all issues of mutual interest.
Speaking to KUNA on Saturday, Al-Muallem said the forum reflected the desire of Turkey and the Arab countries to further develop their relations.
Saudi foreign minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal, addressing the forum earlier, said Turkey has a genuine desire to achieving peace in the Middle East.
Arab League chief Moussa, in a statement to KUNA, said the forum was held in a crucial time in the Middle East.
The Turkish-Arab relations were progressing and the forum would help bring points of view closder over a host of key issues in the Middle East, said Moussa.
The final communique of the one-day forum, meanwhile, said Turkey and the Arab countries share the view that there was a need to achieving peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East.
Participants discussed the conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and Iraq.
They agreed to open an office of the Arab League in Turkey.
