Lucknow : A Dalit teenager was tied to a tractor and dragged around a village in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly teasing a minor girl, police said Thursday.
The boy was seriously injured Wednesday evening and has been admitted to a hospital. “The boy has sustained deep bruises on his body. He is out of danger,” Mahoba superintendent of police R.P. Singh told IANS.
He said a case has been registered under various sections of the Prevention of Atrocities (Scheduled Castes and Tribes) Act against Sukhlal Rajpoot, the father of the girl, who is absconding.
Rajpoot has claimed that the boy teased his daughter while she was bathing near a well.
Singh said: “The incident took place at the Shrinagar village of Mahoba district, 200 km from here and according to our information both the minors were having a bath near a well in the outskirts of the village when Rajpoot reached there”.
