Nemhas Toppo, commander of the Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC), was arrested from a jungle area which comes under the Khelari police station of Ranchi, they said.
On Oct 15, suspected JPC rebels had abducted four railway employees – deputy station masters S.K. Kesari and S.D. Ekka, assistant station master Kamal Kishore and Munsi Prasad, station guard of Barwadih railway station – from the Macluksiganj railway station, some 70 km from here.
They were released Oct 20.
According to police sources, Toppo was one of the members of JPC who planned the abduction.
Toppo faces more than a dozen criminal cases in different districts of the state.
