Four guerrillas from Kerala were killed in Kashmir: police

Srinagar, Oct 26 (IANS) Besides the two guerrillas from Kerala killed in a shootout with security forces this month, two more militants from that southern state were similarly killed in the Kashmir Valley, the police confirmed Sunday.

“Three more militants, two Keralites and one Pakistani national, were killed in another encounter in Kupwara district Oct 10,” Uttam Chand, senior superintendent of police Kupwara, told reporters here.

“The two militants belonging to Kerala killed on Oct 10 have been identified as Muhammad Yasir and Faizu belonging to Ernakulam and Kannur districts of Kerala,” he said.

One more guerrilla from Kerala had apparently managed to escape the Oct 10 shootout. “Reports suggest he has moved back to Kerala and is hiding there,” another police officer said here.

On Oct 7, two guerrillas identified as Abdul Rehman and Muhammad Fayaz belonging to Kannur and Malappuram districts of Kerala were killed in a shootout with security forces in Lolab area of Kupwara district.
