Tehran : Director General of the Bureau for Alliance and Foreign Immigrants Affairs (BAFIA) Seyyed Taqi Ghaemi and the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Antonio Guterres held a press conference in the BAFIA Office in Tehran.
Addressing the conference, Ghaemi termed Islamic Republic as one of the biggest countries in term of accepting the refugees.
“Establishing peace and security will pave the way for the voluntary repatriation of the refugees,” Iranian official said.
Guterres, for his part, appreciated the Islamic Republic for hosting the refugees without international contributions for the past years.
Referring to the meager UNHCR budget, Guterres expressed regret that this community can not compensate the Islamic Republic expenses for the war-refugees.
UNHCR official termed the bad living condition as one of the reasons behind an stop in the flow of voluntary repatriation Guterres called for boosting the two sides cooperation.
