“India is one of the countries (that have not signed the NPT) and Australia has no plan of reviewing its policy on uranium supply,” Smith said in the Tamil Nadu capital Chennai, where he began a five-day visit to India Tuesday.

However, he said, in the case of dual use of materials – for civilian and defence purpose- the Australia government would permit exports on a case-to-case basis.

He said the relationship between India and Australia should not be decided on one mineral alone.

The relation between both the countries should be deepened further, he said.
