Bhubaneswar : Two men were lynched by a mob in Orissa’s Cuttack district for allegedly killing a minor boy, police said Friday.
According to police, Susanta Swain, 26, and Silua Jena, 17, were beaten to death Thursday near Dhasar village, some 81 km from the state capital, on suspicion they had killed Chintu Rout, a ten year old boy of the village and thrown his body into the village pond.
The villagers caught the two after recovering the dead body from the pond Thursday, according to an eyewitness.
“We have detained eight villagers for questioning,” police officer G.R Samal told IANS.
This was the second incident of mob lynching in Orissa within a week. Earlier this week, a mob beat a person to death in Jagulipada village in Kendrapada district for allegedly attempting to commit theft.
