Rohtak (Haryana) : A teacher in a government-run school in Haryana’s Rohtak district was roughed up by locals before he was arrested for allegedly showing pornographic pictures to the students, police said.
According to police, some students told their parents about their teacher’s action, following which many villagers came to the school Wednesday and checked the computer of the teacher.
On finding objectionable material stored on the desktop of the teacher’s computer, they beat him.
“We have arrested Vinay Singh, a computer teacher of a government school in Baniyani village and started our investigation. He was not on regular rolls and was employed under an outsourcing project of the school,” Superintendent of Police Alok Mittal told IANS.
Mittal added: “We had to restore to baton charge to disperse the mob in order to arrest the accused teacher. Angry villagers had locked him inside the school and refused to hand him over to police.”
During the commotion, the villagers also damaged police jeeps.
“We have registered a case against unidentified persons who destroyed our vehicles. Police is raiding various places to arrest them,” Mittal said.
