No common manifesto with alliance partners: Congress

By IANS,

New Delhi : The Congress Thursday said it will have its own manifesto and not a common one with its partners in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) met here to discuss poll strategy ahead of the Lok Sabha elections likely to be held in April-May.

The meeting was presided over by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and attended by 29 members.

“The Congress will have its own manifesto and in states where we have alliance partners, we would seek votes for them,” party spokesperson Janardan Dwivedi told reporters here after the CWC meeting.

“Post-poll alliances will depend on which party of the UPA wins how many seats,” he said.

“All pre-poll alliances will be at the state level with the existing partners and if any state unit of the party sees a possibility for some other alliances, it will be formulated in coordination with the All India Congress Committee,” Dwivedi said.
