Ghaziabad: In near identical incidents, a lawyer and a physio-therapist were shot at by motorcycle borne assailants here Wednesday, police said. Both victims are reported to be in critical condition.

Lawyer Jagdish Chauhan, 36, resident of Rajendra Nagar was shot at by three motorcycle riding assailants while he was driving in his car to the court Wednesday morning, police said.

“Three men on a motorcycle drew up by the side of Chauhan’s car and opened fire. Then they fled the scene. Some passerbys rushed the injured lawyer to a local hospital where doctors referred him to Fortis Hospital in Noida,” a police officer said.

Circle officer Happy Guptan said: “The condition of the lawyer is still critical. He suffered three bullet injuries. Since all his family members are busy, they have not yet lodged a complaint, but we expect someone to file a complaint. But even if no one comes, we will register the case through our channels.”

In the second incident, physio-therapist Ravindra Singh, 26, was also shot at by motorcycle borne assailants while he was jogging near the Santosh Medical College in Ghaziabad around 7.30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

According to an eyewitness, two men on a motorcycle approached Singh while he was jogging and the pillion rider opened fire. Before anyone could react, the assailants fled the scene.

Singh was rushed to the hospital where doctors said that his condition was critical.

“We have registered the case. We will soon arrest the assailants,” circle officer R.K. Gautam said.
