New Delhi: Jamia Millia teachers’ body, various civil rights groups and student organizations will hold a protest demonstration at the head office of the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi tomorrow to register their anger over the Commission’s enquiry report on the Batla House encounter.
Jamia Teachers’ Solidarity Group (JTSG), All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Association for the Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) call for a protest demonstration against the NHRC’s farcical ‘Enquiry’ into the Batla House ‘Encounter’ reads a statement signed by these organizations. “For truth and justice, reject the NHRC’s partisan conclusions,” the said.
The demonstration will be held at the headquarters of NHRC (Faridkot House, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi) at 4 pm on 24th July.
The NHRC in its report has given a clean chit to the Delhi Police in the Batla House encounter case, saying that the police opened fire in self-defence and thus there was no violation of any human rights. The rights groups have termed the encounter a fake one since the day one.
