No respite from heat for Delhiites

New Delhi : There was no respite from the heat and humidity for Delhiites Friday as the maximum temperature was recorded at 42 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.

“The humidity level was recorded at 61 percent Friday,” an official of the Safdurjung meteorological office told IANS.

The capital Friday recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, a notch above average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 31.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees above average for this time of the year.

“There will be no rainfall within the next 24 hours. Dust storms and thunderstorm are expected later Friday evening,” the official added.

“I have been living in Delhi for the past 10 years and it has never been this humid. This almost feels like Mumbai. One cannot step out without a bottle of chilled water,” said Ayman Kirmani, a software engineer.

The Met department predicted a maximum temperature of around 42 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature will hover around 30 degrees Celsius mark for Saturday.
