Lucknow : A 20-year-old man was Tuesday arrested for having allegedly raped and killed a three-year-old girl in an Uttar Pradesh village, police said.
According to the police, Santosh Singh, a resident of the Baralgaon village in Jhansi district Monday called the three-year old daughter of his neigbour, on the pretext of applying henna on her hands.
“Later, after raping her, Singh strangled her and escaped,” police inspector D.K.Saini told IANS over telephone.
After recovering the girl’s body early Tuesday, police launched an extensive search and arrested Singh.
Jhansi is about 400 km from Lucknow.
