Tehran : Iran’s last prime minister, Mir-Hossein Mousavi, registered on Saturday as one of the June 12 Presidential Elections candidates.
Mousavi, who was Iran’s fifth and last post-revolution prime minister from 1981-89, is currently President of the Iranian Academy of Arts.
Mousavi who served as a senior advisor to former president Mohammad Khatami (1977-2005) was in charge of the Foreign Ministry for some time both before and after becoming prime minister.
Prior to the foreign ministry portfolio, Mir-Hossein Mousavi was editor-in-chief of the Jomhouri-ye Islami newspaper, the official organ of the greatest political party in the first post-revolution Majlis (Parliament) /1980-1984/ which carried the same name.
