Man robbed of Rs 100,000 near a west Delhi bank

New Delhi: Three motorcycle-borne assailants Friday robbed a man of Rs.100,000 in cash which he had just withdrawn from a bank in Rajouri Garden area of west Delhi, police said.

“We received a call at around 1:30 p.m. about the incident. The victim, Girish Singh, told us that he had hardly walked a few hundred metres after withdrawing Rs.100,000 from a private bank when three persons attacked him,” a senior police officer said.

The assailants threatened Singh at gunpoint to hand over the bag containing the money. When he resisted, they allegedly hit him with the pistol butts, snatched the bag and fled from the spot, the police officer added.

“Singh works at a showroom in Rajouri Garden area and was returning to office after withdrawing money. He was taken to a nearby hospital for first aid. We are investigating the matter,” the police officer said.
