Raipur: The sensational murder of a medical student in this Chhattisgarh capital Friday night was possibly due to rivalry in love and clues indicate the murderer was a friend of the victim, police said Saturday.
Pratik Sonwani, a post-graduate student at the government medical college, was shot down Friday midnight in an upscale residential area here.
“I don’t want to reveal the name of the accused now but the murder episode is linked to a love triangle … probably the accused and the deceased were in love with the same girl, and after murdering Pratik, the accused has fled to Jagdalpur town where police have been alerted,” a police officer said.
Jagdalpur, headquarters of Bastar region, is located some 300 km south here.
