Over 11,000 complaints received by anti-obscenity cell

By IANS,

New Delhi: Delhi Police’s anti-obscenity cell has received as many as 11,207 calls in ten months of its existence, Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said Monday.

The cell was launched in December last year to address complaints from women being troubled by lewd, objectionable and obscene phone calls and SMSs and MMSs.

“The cell has received a tremendous response and so far 11,207 calls have been received. Of these, action has been taken to the satisfaction of the callers in 10,130 calls,” Dadwal told reporters.

People can call on phone numbers – 27894455 and 9911135446 – and register their complaints. Objectionable SMSs and MMSs along with the senders’ phone number can be forwarded to the mobile number. Complaints can also be sent by e-mail at [email protected].
