Bihar JD-U chief resigns

By IANS,

New Delhi: The Janata Dal-United (JD-U)’s Bihar unit president Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lalan Monday submitted his resignation to party president Sharad Yadav following differences with state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, party sources said.

However, the resignation has not been accepted by the party leadership as it wants to resolve the differences between the two leaders ahead of assembly elections due later this year, the sources added.

A solution would be found in about ten days through the process of internal consultations, they said.

Singh, a Lok Sabha member, has accused Kumar of overlooking genuine party workers and treating the party as his “fiefdom”.

He met Yadav to hand over his resignation but he ruled out quitting the party.
