Lucknow: An Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist involved in the September 2008 serial blasts in Delhi was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district, an official said Monday.
Shahzad Ahmad alias Pappu alias Shiraz Ahmad, wanted in connection with the Sep 13, 2008, serial bomb blats in Delhi, was arrested from Khalaspur village under the Billariganj police station in Azamgarh, Additional Director General (law and order) Brij Lal told reporters here.
“Shahzad, who was labeled as ‘a dreaded terrorist’ by the Delhi Police, carried a reward of Rs.5 lakh for his capture,” he added.
Shahzad is a native of Rehmani Manzil, Jalandhari, Sadar city in Azamgarh, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“The ATS team is bringing Shahzad to Lucknow, where he would be grilled thoroughly. We have also intimated the Delhi Police about his arrest,” said Lal.
