Kolkata : The West Bengal government declared a two-day state mourning from Monday on the death of former state chief minister Jyoti Basu.
State Chief Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakraborty said all state government establishments would observe holiday Monday.
“We have already declared a holiday in all state government offices Monday.
“We have also requested all private establishments to mourn the death of former chief minister Jyoti Basu and observe a paid holiday at their working places tomorrow as well,” Chakraborty said Sunday.
All government programmes were cancelled on Monday and Tuesday following the death of the 95-year-old Marxist leader.
The national flag at all state government offices would fly at half mast Monday.
