Kolkata: Local outfit Chirag United struck back quickly to draw 1-1 with Goa’s Dempo SC in an I-League encounter here Wednesday.
Peter Carvalho put the visitors ahead in the 59th minute before Edmilson Marques drew parity six minutes later in the tie at the Salt Lake Stadium.
After ten rounds, both Dempo and Chirag are now on 19 points. But the Goans are second and Chirag third on goal average count. Mumbai’s Mahindra top the table with a point more.
The Dempo goal came when Carvalho followed up and put home an Anthony perera corner, while Marques scored from a wonderfully executed 20-yard free kick.
