New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a man for allegedly selling fake “meal coupons” and recovered these slips of paper worth around Rs.560,000 from him.
“The accused Rakesh Grover was arrested from near Punjabi Bagh area Tuesday on the basis of a complaint by a company – Sodexo SVC India Private Limited – that someone was selling forged food coupons in its name,” said a senior police officer.
The company is involved in the business of printing and supplying meal passes of various denominations to various corporate houses, BPO (business process outsourcing) companies, public sector units and other companies.
These meal coupons are honoured by various fast food outlets and super stores. These passes are generally issued by the companies to their employees for their personal use.
“On interrogation, the accused revealed that he is unemployed and it was one of his cousins who suggested that he could earn good money by selling such meal passes. He then got into selling of these fake meal passes since last one month,” the officer added.
“He used to target delivery boys of various fast food outlets. Grover used to lure them to buy these fake passes in return of 10-15 percent commission. Provided to him by his cousin, he sold passes worth Rs.10-12 lakh (Rs.1-1.2 million) in last one month. Efforts are on to arrest his cousin,” the officer said.
