Malappuram: KT Abdul Raheem, noted Islamic scholar and member of the national representative body of the Jamat e Islami Hind, died yesterday. The 67-year old was admitted to a private hospital when he died around 7.30 pm.
KT Abdul Raheem, popularly known as KT, was serving as the shura member of the JIH in Kerala. KT became a member of the JIH in 1966 and was then elected to the state shura. Being a very good organizer, KT has served the Islamic movement not only in various districts of Kerala but in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands too. He has served as the ‘nazim’ (head) of JIH’s south zone, and as khateeb in several famous masjids like the Madeena Masjid in Ernakulam. He was the director of the Islamic Centre in Ernakulam. He played an important role in the formation of the Islamic Service Society in Ponnani along with KN Abdulla Moulvi in the 1970s. He also led the Islamic da’wa activities in the UAE for some time.
KT is survived by wife and four children.
