Srinagar: Arrested Border Security Force (BSF) commandant R.K.Birdi was Monday admitted to the hospital after he complained of severe chest pain.
Birdi was Saturday evening shifted to the Srinagar central jail after the chief judicial magistrate sent him on a ten-day judicial custody.
“This (Monday) morning he complained of severe chest pain and thereafter he was shifted to the BSF Hospital here for treatment,” a state government officer said.
Birdi was arrested by the special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder of 16-year-old schoolboy, Zahid Farooq Sheikh here last month.
Lakhwinder Kumar, a trooper of the BSF’s 68 battalion, who was detained by the SIT after an enquiry found him involved in Zahid’s killing, had admitted he shot at the boy but said he had only followed the orders of Birdi.
