New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday accused the central government of failing in floor management in the Rajya Sabha over the Women’s Reservation Bill and said its parliamentary party will meet Monday over the issue.
“The BJP has offered unconditional support to the government to pass the bill. But the government failed Monday,” senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told IANS.
“The party decided to meet in the wake of the government’s failure in the floor management in the Rajya Sabha,” he added.
The bill seeks to reserve 33 percent seats in parliament and state legislatures for women. The members of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Samajwadi Party were leading the opposition against the bill and were successful in blocking it in the Rajya Sabha Monday.
