New Delhi : Prices of sugar and pulses declined in most places across the country in the week ending March 17, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said here Tuesday.
“In the week ending March 17, the prices of sugar and pulses have declined in most of the centres where prices are monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs. Prices of other commodities have generally remained steady at most of the reporting centres,” the ministry statement said.
According to the ministry, sugar prices have declined at 12 centres including at Delhi, Shimla, Raipur and Patna.
“In Delhi, retail prices of tur dal, urad dal, masoor dal, sugar, mustard oil, vanaspati and onion have decreased, while rice, wheat, atta, gram dal, milk, groundnut oil, and salt prices remained steady over one week. Prices of moong dal and potato registered slight increase,” it said.
“Gram dal prices have remained steady at all the reporting centres and declined at Shimla and increased at only one centre, i.e. Thiruvananthapuram,” the ministry said.
“Potato prices have remained steady at all the reporting centres and decreased at Thiruvananthapuram. Onion prices have decreased at 10 centres, including at Delhi, Shimla, Mumbai, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.”
Wheat, edible oils and vanaspati prices have remained steady at most of the centres, it said.
