Lucknow: In a significant move, as per Islamic tenents, Naib Imam, Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali on Saturday forgave the miscreants who were involved in a murderous attack on him on May 17, 2010.

Maulana Khalid stated that Allah also forgives the sins of humans and prefers those who forgive their foes. Even prophet Mohammad (pbuh) forgave his enemies. “Such teachings are evident in Quran and Hadith,” he said.

He also added that his decision besides being in light of Islamic teaching was also as per the instructions by his father Maulana Abu Tayyab Firangi Mahali, the senior Imam of Eidgah. He also urged his followers and muslims not pursue the case against the accused. “I will also appeal to the person who has lodged a report from my side to withdraw the case,” he said.

Firangi Mahali escaped a bid on his life on May 17 2010 when two youths identifed as Aftab and Abuzar attacked him. He was lucky as the weapon of the attackers misfired. His guards overpowered Aftab on the sport while Wazirganj police in Lucknow on May 18 arrested another youth identified as Abuzar Kidwai of Sadatganj. The police arrested Kidwai when he was about to surrender in court. Kidwai was arrested from near Balrampur hospital around 12.50 pm.

Meanwhile, one Raes Ahmad of Nai Basti Mehboobganj under Sadatganj police station gave a written complaint to Bazarkhala police on behalf of Naib Imam.

In the complaint letter, Naib has mentioned that the miscreants, who were four in numbers, opened fire at him on after he came out of the Eidgah.
