South Korea opens visa application centre in New Delhi

By IANS,

New Delhi : South Korea Friday opened its first visa application centre in India and said it would outsource the facilities to a private firm in a bid to make the process easier and prompt.

“An ever increasing number of Indians are now visiting Korea each year. This trend has necessitated an arrangement to process a large volume of visa applications,” South Korean Ambassador to India Joong-Keun Kim said after opening the new centre here.

“It is to meet this requirement that we have partnered with VFS Global Services to open this centre. It is my hope that with the opening of this centre, visa applicants will be able to get prompt and efficient visa services,” he said.

VFS Global, outsourcing and technology firm, will now be responsible for accepting and processing the application for Korean visas.

Earlier, the South Korean embassy in New Delhi used to issue visas directly. “By adopting the outsourcing model, travellers and visa seekers will now be able to easily avail visas to Korea,” the Korean embassy said in a statement.

“Travellers can look forward to an enhanced level of service with features including extended reach, comfortable office premises, extended submission duration, convenient modes of payments, faster turnaround time, passport delivery and many more value-added service initiatives, with VFS Global,” it said.
