Shimla : A day after Indian cricket captain M.S. Dhoni shaved off his head to fulfil the vow to the gods, the Himachal Pradesh government Monday invited the Indian team to the “land of gods”.
Moving a resolution in the state assembly, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said it was a proud moment that the Indian team has won the championship after 28 years.
“We are inviting the team members along with their families to visit the state for a week. The entire expenditure would be borne by the state,” said Dhumal, who also holds the tourism portfolio.
He said the state-run Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) hotels would extend the hospitality.
The HPTDC has 57 economy and high-end hotels across the state.
The resolution was unanimously passed and the invitation was sent to the Indian cricket team members.
Himachal Pradesh attracted 13 million tourists last year as compared to 11 million in 2009, registering an increase of over 16 percent, according to the tourism department.
