Omar’s poser on accountability

By IANS,

Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday posed a question after social activist Anna Hazare succeeded in making the government agree to go in for a stringent Lokpal Bill, tweeting: “Now that victory has been declared time to ask who will the ‘people’s reps’ be accountable to and how will accountability be enforced?”

The chief minister, who was monitoring the indefinite fast of hazare and had supported “the democratic manner” in which he had undertaken the campaign, Saturday also commented: “I’m all for people power but with great power comes even greater responsibility. It’s a continuous process, not 3 nights of candles & music.”

The chief minister’s remarks were aimed at the people who saw victory in their joining in the candlelight marches and all-night vigils at Jantar Mantar where Hazare was sitting on an indefinite fast.

Jammu and Kashmir, which is ranked as the second most corrupt state in the country next to Bihar, has also witnessed marches in support of Hazare’ crusade.
