New Delhi : The environment ministry Saturday gave clearance to seven mineral mining projects in Uttarakhand, officials said.
“The ministry of environment and forests has granted forest and environment clearances to seven projects in Uttarakhand. This meets a long-standing demand of the state,” said a ministry official.
Members of parliament from Uttarakhand had met Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh last week to discuss the issue.
The projects include collection of stone, boulders and mining of minor minerals from the bed of seven rivers in the state.
