Lucknow: Dream of attaining higher education of scores of Muslim girls crashed after Lucknow University (LU) refused to provide them examination forms. Shocked and disturbed over the incident, the girls who all are students of B.Ed. staged protest outside their college Karamat PG Girls College in Nishatganj on Monday.
These students took admission in 2009-10 session which was declared as Zero-Session by LU because the admission process in B.Ed. got delayed too much. It may be noted that these students were admitted under 50 percent quota for Minorities in minorities institutions.
When the students came to know that examination forms are being given to the B.Ed. students of 2010-2011, they went to ask the college authorities that where are their examination forms.
Manager of the College, Shoaib Ahmad admitted that girls approached college authorities asking for examination forms and also about the status of their examinations. “After they were not allowed by the Lucknow University for giving exams last year, we moved to High Court and in the judgement, court directed Lucknow University for conducting examinations of all the students who were denied by them as their admission were done in Zero Session in 2009,” he claimed.
Shoaib informed that college has sent notice for obeying the orders of the High Court by conducting the exams of these students but till now there is no reply from the university. The university has not sent any forms for students enrolled in 2009-10 session because of which college is unable to provide forms to those students. “If the university does not follow the orders of the court then we will file contempt case against the university,” he added.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson of Lucknow University, SK Diwedi said that they are aware about the issue and they have referred the matter to the government, so we are waiting for the government orders.
