Bhopal : The Madhya Pradesh government Thursday decided to seek a Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) probe into the murder of Shehla Masood, Right to Information activist and India Against Corruption’s state chapter head, officials said.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asked the state home department to send a request to the central agency to probe the incident.
Masood, who was also a green activist, was shot dead Tuesday as she was about to leave home to attend protests in support of social activist Anna Hazare.
Since then, activists and the opposition had demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing. Masood’s family members had also met state police chief S.K. Raut and requested a CBI inquiry into the case.
