Dhaka : Six people were killed and 45 injured in two road accidents in Bangladesh’s Bagerhat and Nilphamari districts Tuesday, the Daily Star reported.
In Bagerhat, a bus overturned on the Khulna-Mawa highway in Mollahat sub-district after hitting a pedestrian standing in front of a filling station around 12.25 a.m., said a police official. The unidentified pedestrian died on the spot.
Besides, a firefighting unit recovered two bodies of Rabiul Islam, 32, and Sajib, 24, from inside the vehicle, said Moktar Hossain, a Mollahat sub-district officer.
In Nilphamari, at least three people were killed and 30 injured when two buses collided in Dhalapir area Tuesday morning.
The accident took place when a Nilphamari-bound bus from Dhaka collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound bus of Maroon Enterprise at around 7.50 a.m.
Salim Miya, a passenger of the Nilphamari-bound bus, said the driver was speeding dangerously to make up for a three-hour delay in Gazipur area.
