Islamabad : Auditors in Pakistan have found tax evasion of more than Rs.200 billion in 50,000 cases over the past few years.
Dawn reported that the financial irregularities amounted to Rs.209.79 billion. The evasion of such a massive amount was not possible without official connivance, said experts quoted by the paper.
Pakistan Auditor General’s office, in its audit report for the year 2010-11 for indirect taxes, unearthed irregularities of Rs.198.686 billion.
Also, the report for year 2010-11 on direct taxes reveals evasion of Rs.11.111 billion.
