New Delhi : The Supreme Court Monday directed private hospitals to submit to the Delhi government proposals for formulating a common policy for providing free treatment to poor patients.
An apex court bench of Justice R.V. Raveendran and Justice A.K. Patnaik told the private hospitals to submit their proposals within 10 days and thereafter hold discussions for framing a common policy of free treatment for poor patients — both in the indoor and OPD categories.
The court also said that all the patients referred to private hospitals by their government counterparts will be provided free treatment.
A separate account of such treatment would be maintained and will be factored in the future policies.
