By IANS,

Ulan Bator : Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj and visiting Indian President Pratibha Patil Thursday agreed to strengthen their countries’ cooperation in nuclear energy and mining. Both sides signed three agreements after their meeting.

Elbegdorj noted that in recent years Mongolia and India have made significant progress in their collaborations in the areas of politics, security and defence. Collaboration in mining and investment has also made a good start, he added.

Beside nuclear energy and mining, the two sides will also boost cooperation in agriculture, education, health and science, Xinhua quoted Elbegdorj as saying.

Patil said she is willing to strengthen the two countries’ tradition of supporting each other on regional and international affairs.

India will provide more government scholarships for Mongolian students intending to study in India, Patil said.

She added that New Delhi has granted a $20 million credit to help Mongolia establish a Mongolia-India joint centre of IT education and outsourcing in Ulan Bator.

After their meeting, both sides signed three agreements covering, among others, cooperation in the defence sector.
